BG portrait - me by nattzvart BG portrait - me by nattzvart
I don't get this new cathegorization system... sorry.

This is a paintover of a photo of me, and I thought it would be cool to make it into a BG protrait, since most characters I draw tend to look somewhat like me anyways.

Time spent: 1½ hour, Photoshop CS2

The name of my BG character is Adriamne and she is a Neutral Good Cleric/Fighter.

Hi nattzvart!

This portrait is so awesome I would like to use it for my first female character in BG:EE! Any chance you could upload a .BMP version? :)

Thanks and kudos again!

exactly!

I usually make my own portrait for all the new characters I make. Makes them more personal.

(and you can't play throught the BG series enough times... =P )

for the minuscule 1 1/2 hours this took you it is unbelievable. there's a show of talent here that's almost insulting  I'm left imagining what you could do with 5 hours! I love the subtle scarring, it's actually beautiful.
Ar, so much envy :giggle:

Thank you very much. =)

I left some comments on your pirate-pic. You have lots of talant as well. Learning how to work fast is about knowing the shortcuts, nothing else. And that comes with time + tips from other people.

Well.. one of the things I learned from some professionl artists is; use layers, but no as in separating different elements. Use layers to experiment with lighting and color. Different layer settings (especially overlay and multiply) comes in real handy when you want to put on a good finish on you painting. Using color layers to tint a picture is good as well to achive an overall mood.

Of course all this can be painted the "traditional" way, but by using new layers for shadows/light you save loads of time and you'll be able to swap between before/after to see what kind of effect the changes has.
Effect layers are great as well. On the layers-window, there is a small icon that will create an effect layer of you choice. That way you won't loose color information. =)

hope there is something you can use... =P

Hey I've never actually used different layer settings with work before... I hadn't even thought about it! I'll definitely be trying that. haha I didn't even know what an effect layer was! looks like I have heaps of exploring to do! :giggle: Thank you so much for that information! :glomp:

Men det är ju lite fusk med paintovers. ^^ går snabbt och blir snyggt utan vidare ansträgning, tycker jag. Fast det är ju oxå en konstform. Eller nåt. Men tack iaf.

Wah!! Beautiful girls in armor--that always rocks! ;) :p Great job with the over paint--it looks like paint rather than a photo now. Did you add the scar...? It seems to go with the armor rather well! Very nice job!

Haha yeah! I sometimes watch Luc Besson's "The Messenger" when I need some inspiration for my female fighting characters. (Cuz I have a habit of running around in armor IRL at medievial events =D)
The painting itself was done fairly quickly, most of the time I spent trying out different composings and lighting.
And yes the scar was added. =) I only pretend to be a fighter IRL. Actually I'm a whimp.. =P
Thanks for your kind words. It really means a lot to me.

"I only pretend to be a fighter IRL. Actually I'm a whimp.. "

LOL! ME TOO!! My favorite quote for that is "He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day!" LOL! I'm the Sir Robin of the pack, I think (obscure Monty Python reference :p)... The medieval festivals must be crazy-fun! Do you joust, too? That looks scary... **shudders**

Still--this is lovely, and your expression is definitely the tough, self-possessed warrior woman--it fits well! ;)

I came across one in one of other KFMers site....let me see......I think I bagged it in my fav now. Phoq?

Anyway, that one was pretty good. Although I would still prefer pencil (cost less to upgrade). It is always good to know other methods.
